JONESBORO, Ill. -- Nolan Davis, 89, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 1998, at Carbondale Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
He was born Sept. 1, 1908, in Balcom, son of Charles Frances and Bertha Beatrice Settlemoir Davis. He and Hazel C. Brown were married Jan. 7, 1933, in Metropolis. She died March 10, 1991.
Davis retired from International Shoe Co., where he worked 27 years. He was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church and AFLCIO Local.
Survivors include a daughter, Constance Young of Coello; two sons, Russell Davis of Jacksonville, Harold Davis of Anna; three brothers, Claude Davis of Anna, Quentin Davis of Jonesboro, Rooney Davis of Festus, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Friends may call at Hileman and Parr Funeral Home in Jonesboro from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Hardway officiating. Burial will be in Anna Cemetery.
