OZARK, Mo. — Nola Berniece Garner Pattengill, 98, of Ozark, formerly of Florissant, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at Missouri Baptist Home in Ozark.

She was born Feb. 22, 1925, at Essex, Missouri, to Wiley and Effie McArthur Garner, who preceded her in death.

Nola's early years were spent in Southeast Missouri, where she graduated from Benton High School — now Kelly High School — in 1943. Nola and Lawrence "Pat" Pattengill were married Oct. 15, 1943. They had been married 68 years, when Pat passed away Jan. 3, 2012.

Nola worked many years as a bookkeeper. After retirement, she and Pat spent much of their time doing mission work while traveling in their RV. When Pat was working on building projects with the men, Nola worked on quilts and other sewing projects. She was known for her pies wherever she went. She took up painting and excelled at it, too. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church in Florissant, where she assisted in establishing the church library, sang in the choir and was a member of the Salem-Aires.

She is survived by three children, Carolyn (Allan) Crader of Ozark, Larry (Susan) Pattengill of Hartsville, South Carolina, and Connie (Bill) Light of Frankford, Missouri; four grandchildren, Nanette Crader-Stovall, Craig Crader, Lara Mullen and Matthew Bunch; two stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Mullen, Collin Crader, Kenzie Crader and Andrew Pattengill; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Darlene Garner of Sikeston, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.
