Niki Daoukas

Niki Daoukas, age 89, of Jackson, formerly of St. Louis, died Friday, Dec. 30, 2011, at her home in Jackson.

She was born on April 23, 1922, in Istanbul (Constantinople), Turkey to Alexander and Eleni Pangalos. She married Christ Daoukas in 1951. He preceded her in death in 1980.

Niki was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in St. Louis. She loved to travel. She lived as independently as possible throughout her life. She remained in close contact with her family and friends via email.

She is survived by three daughters, Penelope (John) Manzo of West Bloomfield, Mich., Alexandra (Russell) Lawson of Richwood, Mo., and Ellen (Paul) Deiermann of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren, Thomas (Shannon) Daoukas, Shana (Eric) Lawson, Marc (fiancee Courtney) Manzo, Christina (friend Marcus) Manzo, Maria and Joseph Deiermann; and three great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Chloe Daoukas and Jayden Deiermann-McClard.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one brother, George Pangalos.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in St. Louis.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Interment will follow in St. Matthew's cemetery in St. Louis.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.
