JACKSON, Mo. -- Nicholas "Nick" James Hendrix, 16, of Jackson passed away Friday, June 16, 2000, near Fruitland.

He was born Dec. 27, 1983, at Cape Girardeau, the son of Stephen and Marcia Stoner Hendrix.

Nicholas was a member of First Baptist Church of Oak Ridge. He was a student at Jackson Senior High School and a member of the Jagar Club, Drama Club and the Young Eagles Explorers Aviation Post 221 at Cape Girardeau. He was also involved with the "Youth Group" at church and was an avid bowler, winning a number of Youth League tournaments.

He is survived by his parents of Jackson, brother and sister-in-law, Toby and Jennifer Hendrix of Jackson, sister, Kyleigh Hendrix and her fiancee, David La of Jackson, a nephew, Brayden La of Jackson, maternal grandparents, James A. and Kathryn Stoner of Cape Girardeau, paternal grandmother, Lala V. "Sue" Hendrix of Jackson, aunts and uncles, Mr. and Mrs. Troy Hendrix, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Hendrix, and Rosalee Hendrix, all of Fruitland; Mr. and Mrs. Kenny Eftink of Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Kates of Stone Mountain, Ga.; and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Erickson of Springfield, Va.; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Troy I. Hendrix.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, June 18, at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

Funeral service will be held Monday, June 19, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home in Jackson, with the Rev. John Sedgwick officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the St. Jude Children's Hospital.
