TAMMS, Ill. -- Nicholas Sanford Myers Sr., 57, of Tamms, Ill., died Jan. 24, 1995, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
He was born Oct. 17, 1937, at Randles, Mo., the son of Joseph L. and Lorene Menz Meyers. He was married to Jo Allen Martin on Oct. 28, 1964, in Roma Park.
Myers was a truck driver for the Ohio Pacific Truck Line in Benton, Mo. He and his wife raised numerous foster children through the Children and Family Services in Anna and Cairo. Myers was baptized at the McClure Pentecostal Church and served in the U.S. Army from 1963-1965.
Survivors include his wife; six sons, Darrell Lee Myers of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Dane L. Myers of Colorado, Darren L. Myers of Chebanse, Capt. Nicholas S. Myers Jr. of Wichita, Kan., and Rueben N. Myers and Mike A. Myers of Tamms; two daughters, Dachelle L. Pundt of Colorado and Charlotte R. Porterfield of Dongola; two foster children, Julio and Angel of Tamms; six brothers, Joe Myers and Stan Myers of Cape Girardeau, Julius "Bud" Myers of Arab, Mo., Cline Myers of Oak Ridge, Mo., Steve Myers of Yuma, Ariz., and Rick Myers of McClure; three sisters, Martha Peters of Marble Hill, Mo., Joan Hargate of Kankakee and Vicki Slinkard of Burfordville, Mo.; and 15 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, two daughters, one brother and one sister.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday and 4-8 p.m Friday at the Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau with the Revs. Kim Ferguson and and Greg Morrison officiating. Burial will follow in Lindsey Cemetery in McClure, Ill.
Graveside rites will be conducted by VFW Post 3838 of Cape Girardeau.
