Nettie M. Fisher, 96, of Scott City went to heaven Friday, June 23, 2006, at her home.
She was born Dec. 6, 1909, in Ancell, Mo., daughter of John and Bertha Ash Miller. She and Nevan August Fisher were married Sept. 23, 1930, in Waterloo, Ill.
Nettie was a 1927 graduate of Fornfelt High School, and valedictorian of her class. She began a Bible study in her home in 1946, which was soon to become the Scott City Wesleyan Methodist Church. The church is now Cornerstone Wesleyan.
Nettie was a member of Wesleyan Women's Missionary Society, Sunday school teacher for 60 years, and church treasurer for 50 years. Her three greatest loves were her Lord, her family, and her church.
She was a member of Scott City Garden club and Scott City Planning and Zoning Committee.
Survivors include seven sons and their wives, Dr. John and Nelda Fisher of Bethlehem, Pa., Nevan and Gerry Fisher Jr. of Edwardsville, Ill., Dr. Garnett and Carole Fisher of Stone Mountain, Ga., David Fisher of Pittsburg, Texas, James and Martha Fisher of Alton, Ill., Mark and Leah Fisher of Scott City, Robert and Sandi Fisher of Klamath Falls, Ore.; four daughters and husbands, Mary Ann and Dr. Robert Shaw of Columbia, Mo., Joy Kielhofner of Scott City, Grace and Ronnie Jones of Holly Springs, Miss., Faith and Johnny Flynn of Jackson; a sister and husband, Katherine and Marion Koch; 32 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, and a sister.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Cornerstone Wesleyan Church, with the Rev. Wilbur Coates of Cape Coral, Fla., officiating, assisted by the Rev.Timothy Fisher, the Rev. Robin Fisher of Lebanon, Pa., the Rev. Dr. Christopher Fisher of Schuylkill Haven, Pa., and the Rev. Peter Larson of Lebanon, Ohio
Her seven sons will be pallbearers. Burial will be in Lightner Memorial Cemetery at Scott City.
In Nettie's memory, contributions may be made to Cornerstone Wesleyan Church.
