Nelta C. Petzoldt, 99, of Jackson passed away Friday, Nov. 18, 2005, at Monticello House in Jackson.
She was born July 24, 1906, in Oak Ridge, daughter of Charles and Josephine Dambach Ludwig. She and Rito Petzoldt were married Aug. 12, 1929, at Tilsit. He passed away Oct. 23, 1983.
Nelta was a lifetime member and the oldest member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Fruitland. She was a homemaker and had resided at Monticello House the past five years. She enjoyed playing the harmonica, which she was still able to do at her 99th birthday celebration this past July.
Loving survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Truman and Jo Ann Petzoldt of Oak Ridge; a daughter-in-law, Barbara "Kitty" Petzoldt of Port Hadlock, Wash.; three sisters, Alta Proffer and Alphia Hoeh of Cape Girardeau, Cleta Janowski of Daytona Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren, Richard Petzoldt and Audrey Macks of the state of Washington, Roger D. and Gary W. Petzoldt of Jackson; six great-grandchildren, Beckie, Michael, Eric, Ashlee, Morgan, Codie; and a great-great-grandson, Noah.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Willard Petzoldt; four brothers, Elmer, John, Kermit and Willis Ludwig; and two sisters, Bertha Koenig and Norma Huhn.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Schaffner officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
