Nelson Oscar Roth, 85, of Frohna, Missouri, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2018, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Nov. 18, 1933, in Wittenberg, Missouri, son of Theophil and Esther Bodenschatz Roth. He and Eunice Irene Mueller were married Oct. 1, 1960. She preceded him in death May 18, 2017.

The most important part of his life was his faith in God. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Nelson was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, where he served on many church offices. He was a farmer, served in the U.S. Navy, worked at Perry Crating in Frohna and Frohna Feed Store for more than 20 years and retired from Altenburg Hardwood Lumber Co. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Survivors include four sons and two daughters, Barbara (Virgil) Theiss of Cape Girardeau, Dwayne Roth of Frohna, Marlene Roth of Jackson, Brent Roth and Kenton Roth, both of Frohna, and Joel (Lindsey) Roth of Festus, Missouri; one brother, Eugene (Pauline) Roth of St. Louis; 11 grandchildren, Matthew Theiss, Kallee, Lilly and Zachary Roth and Eric, Tyler, Carter, Adlee, Brylee, Emery and Colt Roth.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and daughter-in-law, Connie Roth.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 6:30 to 10 a.m. Monday at Concordia Lutheran Church in Frohna.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Steven Theiss officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to Concordia Lutheran Church in Frohna or Lutheran Hour Ministries.

Young and Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Perryville, Missouri, provided the arrangements.
