Nelson D. Braden Jr., 86, formerly of Illmo, died Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born April 29, 1926, in Cairo, Ill., to Nelson D. and Gladys Julia Halliday Braden Sr.
Nelson was a brakeman with Cotton Belt Railroad and maintenance man for city of Illmo.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Nelson is survived by two nephews, J.D. Braden of St. Louis, Richard Braden of Kansas City; and a niece, Lisa Wolters of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Oscar Braden; and a sister, Edith Miller.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Oliver Clavin as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery with full military honors.
