Nellie Buxton, 91, of Murphysboro, Ill., died Thursday, Dec. 16, 1993, at Jackson County Nursing Home there.
She was born Oct. 27, 1902, in Goreville, Ill., daughter of John L. and Nancy Glenn Asbell. She and Raymond Buxton were married Dec. 12, 1959, in Murphysboro. He died Nov. 16, 1980.
Buxton had worked for the late Dr. H.C. Moss and later at Holden Hospital, both in Carbondale, Ill. She had lived in that area most of her life, and was a member of First Christian Church in Murphysboro.
Survivors include a stepson, Dr. Harold Buxton of Cape Girardeau, and five stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a stepson, three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Meredith Funeral Chapel in Carbondale. The Rev. Dee Armes will officiate, with burial in Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Saturday.
