Nellie Archer

Nellie "Nel" Archer, 63, of Oak Ridge passed away Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, at her home.

She was born March 7, 1947, in Wichita, Kan., daughter of Jack and Dorothy Stokes Mosley. She and Timothy Archer were married June 4, 1968, in St. Louis.

Nel was a foster parent 40 years. While living in St. Louis she spearheaded the Handicapable Easter Egg Hunt held at the Knights of Columbus hall several years.

She was a bus driver from 1999 to 2009 with Oak Ridge School District and worked at Walmart from 2008 until April of this year, retiring due to failing health. She was an avid bowler in St. Louis, enjoyed showing her racking horse, Sequel, at the local horse shows, but her most favored thing was loving her family.

Loving survivors include her husband of 42 years; three sons, Tim (Becky) Archer of Jackson, Carl (Shirley) Archer and Michael Scott Archer of Oak Ridge; two daughters, Terri (Joe) Niswonger of Old Appleton, Crystal Kay Archer of Oak Ridge; a sister, Diann Fegan of St. Louis; a brother, Richard Mosley of Florida; and 11 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Deborah Lynn Archer, in 1979.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Brent Anderson officiating. Interment will be in New Salem Cemetery at Daisy.
