Nelda Kridel, 91, of New Wells passed away Friday, March 10, 2023, at Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Aug. 29, 1931, in New Wells to William and Elsie Niederstadt Meyr. Nelda married Joseph Kridel on July 9, 1966, in Williston Park, New York. One son, Timothy, was born to their union.

Nelda was an elementary school teacher in New York. In 1988, after retirement, they moved to New Wells. They had been married nearly 33 years when Joseph passed away June 9, 1999.

Nelda was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells and Lutheran Women's Missionary League, and fulfilled other obligations at Immanuel Church.

Loving survivors include a son, Timothy (Judy) Kridel of Columbia, Missouri: a sister, Arlene Coulter of St. Louis; four stepgrandchildren; great-stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence "Larry" and Melvin Meyr, and her parents.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to service time Thursday, March 16, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells.

The Rev. Steven Theiss will conduct the funeral service at noon Thursday, March 16, at the church. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may take the form of contributions to LWML or Immanuel Lutheran Church.
