Nelda Boren, 94, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, May 16, 2016, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born on July 24, 1921, in Frohna, Missouri, to Anton and Esther (Mueller) Petzoldt. She married Ervin Boren on May 22, 1948. He preceded her in death Feb. 12, 1963.
Nelda was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau, where she was active in the quilter's guild and ladies aid. She was a cook for many years at Trinity Lutheran School and served as a volunteer at the Lutheran Home.
She is survived by two sons, David (Linda) Boren and Jerry (Linda) Boren, both of Cape Girardeau; four granddaughters, Dalena (Tony) Mullins, Christina (Lee) Dodd, Leslie Hellwege and Jennifer Boren; one grandson, Anthony (Kristen) Boren; nine great-grandchildren; six sisters; one brother; nieces; nephews; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three sisters; and one brother.
Family and friends may gather from 1 p.m. until the time of service Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral services for Nelda Boren will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Doug Breite officiating. Interment will follow in Cape County Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions can be made to Trinity Lutheran School and will be accepted at the funeral home or church.
