SCOTT CITY -- Funeral service for Nealy James McCulley of Scott City will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at First Assembly of God Church. The Revs. Larie Burdine and Randy Morse will officiate. Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery, with full military rites by officials of the U.S. Marine Corps in St. Louis.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City after 2 p.m. today.

McCulley, 71, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Oct. 11, 1925, at Bell City, son of Ulessa and Mary Morgan McCulley. He first married Mary Lillian Webb Dec. 14, 1946. She died Feb. 8, 1974. He later married Edna Robinson Kiplinger Nov. 1, 1975.

McCulley had been a maintenance worker with Drury Southwest, and delivery man for the Southeast Missourian Newspaper.

He was a member of First Assembly of God Church and Disabled American Veterans. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, and received two Purple Hearts.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mary Houston of Wellsville, Kan.; five stepsons, Sammy Kiplinger of Omaha, Neb., Bruce Kiplinger of Scott City, Aubrey Kiplinger of Cape Girardeau, Michael Kiplinger of Crystal City, Randy Kiplinger of Ramstein Air Base, Germany; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, daughter, six brothers, two sisters, and a stepson.
