CHARLESTON -- Nathaniel Armstrong Sr., 72, of Charleston died Friday, March 5, 1999, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born March 11, 1926, at Wyatt, son of James and Lurende Armstrong. He and Dorothy Marie Tucker were married Aug. 7, 1949.
Armstrong became an associate pastor in 1974. He was a member of Mercy Seat Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; six sons, Bobby Tucker of St. Louis, Nathaniel Armstrong Jr. of Osceola, Ark., Reginald and Sidney Armstrong of Peoria, Ill., Eric Armstrong of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Marvin Armstrong of Los Angeles, Calif.; five daughters, Elaine and Dr. Phyllis Armstrong of Los Angeles, Rosalind Armstrong of Peoria, Karen and Sharon Armstrong of the home; a brother, David Morris of Baltimore, Md.; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, two brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Sparks Funeral Home. The Rev. J.L. Posey will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 11 a.m. until service time.
