Naomi Lee

Naomi Elizabeth Lee, 84, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born April 3, 1923, in the Cedar Fork Community of Perry County, Mo., the daughter of Clarence R. and Flora J. (Rimboch) Hudson.

She was first married to Chandos McRill on Aug. 28, 1944, and later married Charles M. Lee on Aug. 2, 1969. He died April 26, 2007.

Naomi devoted her life to the education of young children. She was a graduate of Perryville High School, Southeast Missouri State University and received a master's degree from the University of Missouri. Her teaching career spanned 40 years, 10 of which were in rural schools in Perry County, 11 years in the Perryville Elementary School, and after moving to Cape Girardeau in 1963, she taught 19 years in Cape Girardeau public schools, retiring in 1982.

Naomi is a member of First Baptist Church, Missouri State Teachers Association, Missouri and Cape Girardeau Retired Teachers associations, Beta Iota Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa where she is a charter member and has served two terms as president, Cape Rock Chapter No. 60 of Order of the Eastern Star where she is a past matron and has served as organist for many years. She has also been a volunteer at Saint Francis Medical Center for more than 20 years.

She is survived by two daughters, Anita (Edward) Zimmer of Cape Girardeau and Rebecca (Robert) Tracy of Republic, Mo.; a stepson, John F. Lee of Oregon; a stepdaughter, Carolyn Barks of Cape Girardeau.

She is also survived by six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two stepgranddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Floyd, Cecil, Marvin and Robert; and two great-grandchildren, James D. Feverston III and Mary Katlyn Parr.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel, with Order of Eastern Star service at 7 p.m.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel, with the Rev. Mike Shupert officiating.

Entombment will be at Cape County Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Cape Girardeau or to the Cedar Fork Cemetery Association.
