Nadine Sams

Nadine B. Sams, 76, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born Jan. 13, 1928, in Cates, Ind., daughter of Billy and Lela Babb. She and John L. Sams were married Nov. 27, 1971, in Mattoon, Ill. He died June 6, 1997.

Sams was a graduate of Kingman High School in Indiana. She was employed many years with New York Life Insurance Co. in Indianapolis, Ind., and later with Massachusetts Mutual in Illinois and Georgia. She moved to Cape Girardeau in 1991. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include two stepsons, John Sams Jr. of Baltimore, Md., Donald Sams of Sacramento, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Sharon Kimmel of Chicago; a brother, Leon Babb of Covington, Ind.; two sisters, Lorene Tornquist and Eileen Smock of Loma Linda, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

There is no visitation.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cape County Memorial Park. The Rev. E.K. Purcell will officiate.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
