PUXICO, Mo. — Nadine S. Barnett, 88, of Pontiac, Mich., passed away Sunday, March 8, 2009, at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital in Pontiac. She was born Feb. 22, 1921, in Puxico, daughter of the late Clayton and Pearl Maddox Smith. Mrs. Barnett, a former resident of Puxico, had lived in Pontiac many years. She had been the owner/operator of a convenience store and was a member of Oakwood Community Church in Michigan...

PUXICO, Mo. — Nadine S. Barnett, 88, of Pontiac, Mich., passed away Sunday, March 8, 2009, at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital in Pontiac.

She was born Feb. 22, 1921, in Puxico, daughter of the late Clayton and Pearl Maddox Smith.

Mrs. Barnett, a former resident of Puxico, had lived in Pontiac many years. She had been the owner/operator of a convenience store and was a member of Oakwood Community Church in Michigan.

She married Loyd Barnett, who preceded her in death in 1988.

Survivors include a daughter, Gail Lewis of Pontiac; a sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Ray Dudley; five grandchildren, Mark Bowen, Bill (Sherri) Rowe, Mike (Jennifer) Bowen, Dave (Renee) Rowe, Marcie (Mick) Welch, Michelle Bowen; 12 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Evelyn Rowe; siblings, Vela Hopkins, Ruth Evans, Mark Smith and Jeanette Elmore; and a grandson, Randy Rowe.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to service time Friday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the chapel. Interment will be in Puxico Cemetery.
