Myrtle Gockel Bennett, 89, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Nov. 1, 1992, at the Chateau Health Center, where she was a patient for 11 years.
She was born Sept. 30, 1903, in Cape Girardeau, the daughter of August and Ella Gockel. She married Arthur Bennett in 1927, and he preceded her in death in 1956.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau, and worked 60 years for the Florsheim Shoe Company before her retirement in 1980.
Survivors include three sisters, Clara Crites and Gerry Gladish, both of Cape Girardeau, and Louise Childress of Jonesboro, Ark.
Four brothers and two sisters also preceded her in death.
Friends may call from noon until 1:30 p.m. today at the Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel in Cape Girardeau, where funeral service will be at 1:30. The Rev. John Owen will officiate, and burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
