Myron "Whitey" Anderson, 93, of Cape Girardeau passed away Sunday, April 23, 2023, at Ratliff Care Center.
He was born July 15, 1929, in Advance, Missouri, to Harvey Lee and Oma Winchester Anderson. The family moved to Cape Girardeau when he was 16 years old.
He and Jacqueline Burns were married Oct. 29, 1949, at Paragould, Arkansas. They were married 73 years.
Myron and his wife were owners and operators of Metro News Book Store for 40 years. He retired in April 1999.
He was an avid golfer and played at Kimbeland Country Club for 50-plus years. He loved ballroom and country/western dancing and belonged to Country Club Western Dancers for nearly 30 years.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline; daughter, Catherine Anderson McCarty, and grandson, Zackery McCarty, all of Cape Girardeau; brother, William (Jeannie) Anderson of Overland Park, Kansas; and two nieces, LaDonna Anderson Jackson and Vicky Anderson Thompson of Jackson.
Myron was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Don Anderson.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral will follow at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Entombment will be at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Adult and Teen Challenge Mid-America or First Baptist Church.
