Myra M. Jones, 68, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2005, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born April 5, 1937, in Farrar, Mo., daughter of Benjamin and Lina A. Kasten Soehl. She was baptized at Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar, and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Uniontown, Mo. She and Carrel Wayne Jones were married Sept. 28, 1963, at Grace Lutheran Church.
Before her marriage, Myra worked at the former International Shoe Co. in Jackson. In 1963, after she and Wayne were married, they moved to St. Louis and Myra worked at the former Samuel Shoe Manufacturing.
Upon moving to Bonne Terre, Mo., Myra became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Park Hills, Mo., taught Sunday school in the youth department and assisted in the church's annual Bible school programs.
Residing in Cape Girardeau since 1992, Myra became a member of Eisleben Lutheran Church in Scott City.
Loving survivors include her husband Wayne of 41 years; a son, Rodney W. Jones of St. Louis; her twin sister and brother-in-law, Myrtha and Norman Zwosta of New Wells and their daughter Julie Zwosta, of Cape Girardeau; two sisters-in-law, Shirly Soehl of Jackson and Sandra Jean Jones of Bonne Terre; a nephew, Joshua Paul Jones of Nashville, Tenn.; a foster mother-in-law, Opal Wilson and husband Doyle of Cape Girardeau; two godchildren and many loving cousins.
Myra also leaves many dear church friends and walking partners at West Park Mall.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Dorothy Sherry Jones, in November 1972; her parents and a brother, Kenneth Soehl.
Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson and after 1 p.m. Friday at Eisleben Lutheran Church in Scott City.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Bob Azinger officiating.
Burial will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
