Murle Mack Hill, 76, of Herrin, Ill., and formerly of Scott City, died Saturday, March 20, 2004, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Marion, Ill.
He was born Dec. 14, 1921, at Pekin, Ill., son of Oliver and Mary Knupp Hill. He and Lily "Pearl" Hale were married on Aug. 23, 1947, at Piggott, Ark.
Hill served in the Army Medical Corps during World War II. He was self-employed and drove a school bus in Scott City for many years. Hill was a member of the First Church of God in Herrin.
Survivors include his wife of Herrin; two daughters, Arvilla Hout of Milan, Ill., and Malissa Miller of Herrin; four sons, Loyd Tipsword of Scott City, Stefen Hill of Herrin, Dwayne Hill of Ashford, Va., Kenneth Hill of Johnston City, Ill.; a sister, Marie Littlepage of Jackson; and 16 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, a grandson and a brother.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Maurice Absher and Dan Smith officiating. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lightner Cemetery in Scott City.
