BENTON, Mo. -- Morris McCrory, 68, of Benton died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born Feb. 22, 1948, in Cape Girardeau to Cloyse Edward and Sylvia Quillan Nichols McCrory. He married Riona Jean Lynn on Feb. 15, 1968, and she died during childbirth Nov. 18, 1968. He later married Charlotte Ann Compas on March 30, 2001, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas...

BENTON, Mo. -- Morris McCrory, 68, of Benton died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born Feb. 22, 1948, in Cape Girardeau to Cloyse Edward and Sylvia Quillan Nichols McCrory.

He married Riona Jean Lynn on Feb. 15, 1968, and she died during childbirth Nov. 18, 1968. He later married Charlotte Ann Compas on March 30, 2001, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

He served in the U.S. Marines during Vietnam.

Morris was a utilities worker for Procter & Gamble. He was a member of LaCroix United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3416 in Wappapello, Missouri.

He was an avid crappie fisherman.

Morris is survived by his wife; two sons, Darren McCrory of Knob Knoster, Missouri, and Bryan Kiefer of Jackson; a daughter, Kimberly Kiefer of Boston; a stepson, Randall Stephan of Columbia, Illinois; a brother, James McCrory of Round Lake, Illinois; and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Ron Watts officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery near Morley, Missouri.

Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
