EAST PRAIRIE -- Moran J. Hahn Sr., 77, of East Prairie, formerly of Charleston, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 1998, at his home.

He was born Dec. 23, 1920, in Scott County, son of Solomon and Alma Compass Hahn. He lived most of his life in Mississippi County, where he was a self-employed carpenter.

He was a member of the St. Henry's Catholic Church in Charleston, a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council in Charleston.

On May 25, 1943, he married Marie Bruenderman. She died June 2, 1965.

On Aug. 1, 1975, he married Ruth LaPlant. She survives.

He is also survived by a son, Moran J. Hahn Jr. of East Prairie; four daughters, Delores Hale of Almo, Ky., Alma Nunn of East Prairie, Brenda Bizzell of Statesboro, Ga., and Janis Giltz of Charleston; three sisters, Coletta Hahn, Florence Burger and Tootie Snider, all of Cape Girardeau; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

One infant son preceded him in death.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home in Charleston. Prayer services will be held at 7 p.m. followed by services by the Knights of Columbus Council of Charleston.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Henry's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Richard Lause officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery near Charleston.
