BENTON, Mo. -- Monroe E. Bollinger, 77, of Benton died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000, at his home.
He was born July 10, 1923, at Benton, son of Victor M. and Clementine Hahn Bollinger. He and Frances Marie Micheal were married Jan. 17, 1948, at Benton.
Bollinger worked for Gerhardt Construction Co. 23 years. He owned and operated M&M Drive-In at Benton many years, and served as mayor of Benton for five terms. He also was a self-employed carpenter many years.
He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, Chamber of Commerce, and past exalted ruler of Chaffee Elks Lodge. He was a square dance teacher and caller many years, and was elected to the Square Dance Hall of Fame.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Michael Bollinger of Sebring, Fla., Bill Bollinger of Cape Girardeau, Tom Bollinger of Jackson, Mo.; a brother, Joe Bollinger of Chaffee, Mo.; a sister, Anna Marie Glenn of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and a sister.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Benton Chapel from 4-8 p.m. Friday. The rosary will be recited at 7.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Denis Church, with the Rev. James Seyer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
