MONNIE GAINES

SIKESTON -- Monnie Jo Gaines, 66, of Sikeston died Friday, April 21, 2000, at her home.

She was born on July 28, 1933, in Cave City, Ark., daughter of Ethridge and Sarah Brashears Marlin. She had been in housekeeping at the El Capri Motel in Sikeston for 25 years.

She and Carol D. "Goob" Gaines were married Oct. 30, 1951, in Piggott, Ark. He died March 9, 1998.

Survivors include two daughters, Dianna Michael of Ripley, Tenn., and Lynn Vines of Oran; two sisters, Retha McCants of Sikeston and Dee Stephens of Tipton, Ind.; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.

Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Billie Butler officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
