MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Monica Joyce Jansen, 55, of Marble Hill died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, at her home. She was born Aug. 12, 1953, at Fredericktown, Mo., daughter of James Lee and Joyce Marilyn Dowd Long. She and Thomas Louis Jansen were married Oct. 8, 1975, in Leopold, Mo...

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Monica Joyce Jansen, 55, of Marble Hill died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, at her home.

She was born Aug. 12, 1953, at Fredericktown, Mo., daughter of James Lee and Joyce Marilyn Dowd Long. She and Thomas Louis Jansen were married Oct. 8, 1975, in Leopold, Mo.

Jansen was a shipping clerk with Major Custom Cable. A certified firefighter, she was a volunteer 15 years with Leopold Volunteer Fire Department and served as fire chief from 1998 to 2007. She was a former president of St. Ann's Sodality.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Andrew Jansen of Marble Hill, Matthew Jansen of Whitewater; her mother of Marble Hill; four brothers, Bob, John and Adam Long of Marble Hill, Tim Long of St. Louis; two sisters, Barbara Hutson and Brenda Jordan of Marble Hill; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father and a brother.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hutchings Funeral Chapel. Parish prayers will be at 7, and Knights of Columbus rosary will be at 7:15.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John's Church, with the Rev. John Harth officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
