Missy Estes

EVENING SHADE, Ark. -- Missy "Michelle" Crockett Estes, 67, of Evening Shade, formerly of Clinton, Ark., died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, in Batesville, Ark.

She was born Dec. 11, 1943, in Corbin, Ky., daughter of James Thomas and Lillian Evelyn Smith Williams.

She graduated from Little Rock Hall High School and was a graduate of the University of Arkansas. She held two master's degrees. She was a social studies and English teacher more than 20 years in Clinton schools before retiring. Missy returned to teaching later and spent eight years in Thayer, Mo., where she retired last year. She was of the Baptist belief.

Her biggest passions were reading and writing and she was proud of being a published writer. She loved to teach, travel, and had just become a master gardener. Her energy, creativity and wit made an impression on all she touched. She was one who endured and overcame life's adversities, believing in herself and God. Her boys and grandchildren were a source of great pride.

Survivors include her husband, Rick Estes of Evening Shade, whom she married Nov. 21, 2001, in Las Vegas; three sons, Bobby and Hayden (Paige) Crockett of Fayetteville, Ark., Creed (Amanda) Crockett of Harriet, Ark.; and five grandchildren, Trey, Taylor, Sydney, Spencer and Kale Crockett.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter, Michelle.

Arrangements are incomplete at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home in Batesville.
