DEXTER -- Mirel Bledsoe, 74, of Dexter died Friday, March 28, 1997, at Dexter.

He was born Jan. 26, 1923, at Marmaduke, Ark., son of Wesley Hugh and Martha Adeline "Addie" Clayton Bledsoe.

He lived in Dexter for many years. He had worked as a painter and plumber.

He was a member of the Dexter Church of Christ. He served in the Army during World War II.

He and Betty Roy were married on April 8, 1983, at Dexter.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gary Bledsoe of Stroudsburg, Pa., and Johnny Bledsoe of Morgantown, W.Va.; two daughters, Shirley Shelton of Morgantown and Rhonda Thompson of Port Richey, Fla.; four brothers, Earl, James and Robie Bledsoe, all of Dexter, and Remble Bledsoe of Advance; a sister, Margie Anthony of Dexter; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by two sisters.

Friends may call at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter from 4:30 to 8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel. Dale Grissom of Dexter will officiate, with burial in the Hagy Cemetery at Dexter.
