Minnie Faye Smothers, 91, of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, Aug. 7, 2015, at the Lutheran Home. She was born Oct. 2, 1923, in Ponder, Missouri, the daughter of Elbert and Martha Smith Hagood. Miss Minnie Faye and Elvis Smothers were united in marriage April 7, 1945, at St. Louis. He preceded her in death Feb. 11, 2006...

Minnie Faye Smothers, 91, of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, Aug. 7, 2015, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born Oct. 2, 1923, in Ponder, Missouri, the daughter of Elbert and Martha Smith Hagood. Miss Minnie Faye and Elvis Smothers were united in marriage April 7, 1945, at St. Louis. He preceded her in death Feb. 11, 2006.

Miss Minnie Faye retired after 25 years as a sales clerk at Target in St. Louis. She was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Jackson.

Miss Minnie Faye was loved and adored by all.

Survivors include two daughters, Martha Jane (John) Heise of Cape Girardeau and Judy (Gary Crigger) Rhymer of Cape Girardeau; brother, Clifford Hagood of Lebanon, Missouri; four grandchildren, Lindsey Kellett, Jeremy (Sarah) Heise, Amanda (Mike) Hill and Elizabeth (Steven Walker) Heise; and three great-grandchildren, Aislyn Heise, Wesley and Sutton Hill.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother and three sisters.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance, Missouri.

A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. at the chapel, with the Rev. Charles Lance officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Bell City.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Lutheran Home.
