GORDONVILLE -- Funeral service for Minnie Clifton of Portland, Ore., was held Monday at Mount Scott Funeral Home in Portland, with burial in a cemetery there. Clifton, 76, died Thursday, July 9, 1992, in a Portland hospital. She was born Dec. 28, 1915, near Gordonville, daughter of Frank and Mary Tunge Newburn. GORDONVILLE -- Funeral service for Minnie Clifton of Portland, Ore., was held Monday at Mount Scott Funeral Home in Portland, with burial in a cemetery there.

Clifton, 76, died Thursday, July 9, 1992, in a Portland hospital.

She was born Dec. 28, 1915, near Gordonville, daughter of Frank and Mary Tunge Newburn. She married Wayne Clifton, who died May 26, 1964.

Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn English of Portland, Jean Hesse of Vale, Colo.; two sons, Wayne Clifton of Eugene, Ore., James Clifton of Portland; a brother, Elmer Newburn of Cherokee Village, Ark.; two sisters, Frona Switzer of Jackson, Augusta Aldridge of Wolf Lake, Ill.; 13 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son.
