Milton W. Ueleke, 83, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Feb. 20, 1999 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born Sept. 13, 1915 in Cape Girardeau the son of A.J. and Mary Martha Hartman Ueleke. On Dec. 23, 1946 he and Mary Ellen Miller were united in marriage in Cape. She survives of the home along with one son, William Ueleke of Atlanta, Ga. Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Marie Trlica of Springfield, Mo. and one grandson, Matthew Miller Ueleke of Atlanta, Ga. One brother, Norman Ueleke of Cape Girardeau preceded him in death. Mr. Ueleke was a graduate of Cape Central High School, obtained his B.S. in Education from Southeast Missouri State University, and Masters of Science Education from Missouri University. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force. He spent three years in the service in the China-Burma-India Theatre as a navigator on B-24's, was discharged at the rank of 1st Lieutenant.
He taught at the following schools: Dexter, Cape Central High School for 17 years and SEMO University for 19 years from 1963 to 1982 in the Physics Department retiring in 1982. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church where he taught the Clipper Sunday School Class for many years and also a member of the Men's Club. He also was member of St. Mark's Masonic Lodge and the Eastern Star and a member of the Hump Pilots Association. He was an active member of the Community Concert Association and the Cape Executives Club and was a Charter Member of the Hopeful Investment Club. He also was Cape County Public Administrator for a period of eight years.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999 at Centenary United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clayton Smith officiating. Private burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery at a later time with American Legion graveside rights. Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
