PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Milton A. "Spitz" Vogel, 87, of Perryville died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Jan. 20, 1925, in Uniontown, Mo., son of John S. and Martha A. Hopfer Vogel. He and Olga N. Richter were married Nov. 24, 1946. She preceded him in death Dec. 19, 2008.
Vogel was employed at Lawrence and Moore Inc. in Perryville 41 years, and was owner the last 17 years. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he served on the board of elders.
He was a member and past commander of American Legion Post 133, its executive board and Guard of Honor. He was a member of VFW Post 4282, AmVets Post 94 and Perry County Sportsmen's Club.
Vogel was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include two daughters, Vicki (James) Frank of Cape Girardeau, Crystal (Phil) Norman of Perryville; and three grandchildren, Victoria (Craig) Feichtinger, John Frank and Andrew Norman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; five brothers, Edgar, S.A., Herbert, Albert and Walter Vogel; and two sisters, Nora Brandes and Ella Bingenheimer.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Young and Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Matthew Marks officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 133 and Delta Team.
Memorials are preferred to Immanuel Lutheran School Building Fund in Perryville, Hanover Lutheran Church Building Fund or the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
