COBDEN, Ill. -- Milo Starling, 85, of Cobden died Saturday, April 28, 2001, at the Union County Hospital in Anna, Ill.

He was born April 24, 1916, in Herrin, Ill., son of Francis Marion and Altha Payne Starling. He married Inis Hayden in Jonesboro, Ill., and she preceded him in death.

He was a retired maintenance worker for the Carbondale, Ill., school district. He also was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Shawnee Hills Retreat Church in Equality, Ill.

Survivors include two sons, Ardell Starling of Gulfport, Miss., and Raymond Starling of Villa Ridge, Ill.; three daughters, Barbara Waldrop and Pauline Farrar of Carbondale and Patricia Newcomb of Unionville, Mo.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

He also was preceded in death by a brother, eight sisters and a grandchild.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hileman & Parr Funeral Services.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Hileman & Parr chapel, with the Rev. Gordon Littrel officiating. Burial will follow in Cobden Cemetery.
