Mildred "Millie" Turner, 65, of Cape Girardeau, died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, at her home.
She was born March 5, 1935, at Summitville, Ind., daughter of Ralph H. and Vera Maxine Crull Thurston.
She was formerly married to Arthur H. Turner of Greensburg, Ind.
She was the director of membership services at the Otahki Girl Scout Council in Cape Girardeau, was active in the international students program at Southeast Missouri State University and was a former board member of the Cape Girardeau Historical Society.
She had received a master's degree from the University of Illinois and had taken post-graduate courses at Southeast Missouri State University. She was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include her mother, Vera Thurston Stone of Anderson, Ind.; a son, Brian A. Turner of Houston, Texas; three daughters, Julie J. Gibson of Kansas City, Mo., Jean C. Lange of O'Fallon, Ill., and Jill A. Turner of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Martha Louise Lallathin of Anderson and Mary Sasser of St. Louis; two brothers, John F. Thurston of Los Angeles and Joseph Thurston of St. Louis; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father and two brothers.
Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lynwood Baptist Church. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. at the church, with the Rev. Gary Belcher officiating.
