MARBLE HILL -- Milford J. Long, 72, of Marble Hill, formerly of Dupo, Ill., died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville, Ill.
He was born Sept. 7, 1925, near Scopus, son of John P. and Annie M. Garland Long. He and Addele Shrum were married Sept. 4, 1948.
Long formerly owned Long Home Improvement Co. in Dupo. He was a member of Hurricane Fork General Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jim Long of Cahokia, Ill.; five daughters, Linda Keys of Newburg, Jean Kelly of St. Louis, Ruth McWater of Millstadt, Ill., Alice Roberts and Janet Johnson of Dupo; two sisters, Wilma Shell of Florissant, Melba Elledge of Murdock, Neb.; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a grandson.
Friends may call at Braun Colonial Funeral Home in Cahokia from 4-8 p.m. today, and at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill from 4-8 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hurricane Fork General Baptist Church near Marble Hill. The Revs. Steven Sander and Jimmie Fulbright will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
