SIKESTON, Mo. -- Mildred Thrower, 85, of Sikeston died Thursday, March 21, 2002, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

She was born Jan. 31, 1917, in Charleston, Mo., daughter of L.R. and Alpha Baker. She and A.C. "Jr." Thrower were married Aug. 19, 1934, in Blytheville, Ark.

Thrower co-owned and operated Thrower Shoe Repair and Shoes 33 years. She was a member of Tanner Street Church of God.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Larry Thrower of Columbia, Mo., Jerry Thrower of Lake Almanor, Calif., Michael Thrower of Las Vegas, Nev.; a daughter, Sharon Newman of Sikeston; a brother, Marion Baker of Rossville, Tenn.; three sisters, Evelyn Taylor, Doris Livingston and Judith Burnett, all of Sikeston; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two grandchildren.

Friends may call at Ponder Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The Revs. Tom Geers and Carl Addison will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
