Funeral service for Mildred G. Summerlin of LaPorte, Ind., will be held at noon today at Cutler Funeral Home in LaPorte. The Rev. William Freese will officiate, with burial in Pine Lake Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. to service time.
Summerlin, 83, died Saturday, April 19, 1997, at Fountainview Terrace in LaPorte.
She was born Dec. 30, 1913, at Perkins, daughter of Arthur and Lora Haney Garrison. She and Vivian H. Summerlin were married in 1934 in Ligonier, Ind. He died Sept. 30, 1969.
Summerlin lived in the Cape Girardeau area 45 years before moving to LaPorte. She worked at International Shoe Co. in Cape Girardeau 15 years, and at Levine's Boston Store in LaPorte 28 years.
She was a member of the Loyals of Levine's Boston Store, and Moose Lodge Auxiliary.
Survivors include a son, Eddie Summerlin of Michigan City, Ind.; three sisters, Geneva Morton of Cape Girardeau, Thelma Harvel of Jonesboro, Ill., Virginia Trout of Louisville, Ky.; four grandsons; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister.
