DONGOLA, Ill. -- Mildred Smoot, 86, of Dongola, died Saturday, May 25, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born July 1, 1909, in Dongola, daughter of Jesse and Louella Montgomery Casey. She and Lowell C. Smoot were married Jan. 4, 1933. He died Jan. 15, 1976...

DONGOLA, Ill. -- Mildred Smoot, 86, of Dongola, died Saturday, May 25, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born July 1, 1909, in Dongola, daughter of Jesse and Louella Montgomery Casey. She and Lowell C. Smoot were married Jan. 4, 1933. He died Jan. 15, 1976.

Smoot was a member of First Baptist Church in Dongola, and Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors include a nephew, Gerald Casey of Naperville; five nieces, Patricia Casey of Avon, Colo., Mary Chamners of Marion, Mary Brutti of Largo, Fla., Rosalie Reed of Mountain Home, Ark., and Jeaneen Buie of Carbondale.

Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola after 6 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Lucien Bozarth officiating. Burial will be in American Legion Cemetery.
