JACKSON -- Mildred B. Smith, 87, of Jackson, died Friday, April 26, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Feb. 22, 1909, in Oak Ridge, daughter of Brown and Cora Hartle Clippard. She and Chester Smith were married April 21, 1928. He died July 3, 1989.
Smith worked at the former International Shoe Co. in Jackson. She was a member of First Baptist Church and Order of Eastern Star Chapter 91.
Survivors include six daughters, Peggy Jones of Carlyle, Ill., Betty Smith, Maggie Brotherton, Saundra Smith and Carolyn Schreiner of Jackson, Mary Kutscher of Marion, Ark.; a brother, Fred Clippard of Jackson; three sisters, Lucy Medley of Cape Girardeau, Beulah Stewart of St. Louis, Esther Clodfelter of Imperial; 10 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Mike Schreiner and Cy Smith officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
