Mildred I. Sievers, 84, of Jackson passed away Thursday, June 2, 2005, at Monticello House. The youngest of four children, she was born Feb. 15, 1921, in Oak Ridge, to Ira and Bernice Riehn Walker. When Mildred was 2 months old her mother passed away and she was raised in the home of Eula Surface. She and Charles L. Sievers were married April 5, 1946. He passed away Oct. 6, 1985...

Mildred I. Sievers, 84, of Jackson passed away Thursday, June 2, 2005, at Monticello House.

The youngest of four children, she was born Feb. 15, 1921, in Oak Ridge, to Ira and Bernice Riehn Walker. When Mildred was 2 months old her mother passed away and she was raised in the home of Eula Surface. She and Charles L. Sievers were married April 5, 1946. He passed away Oct. 6, 1985.

Mildred worked at the former Hosiery Mill in Jackson and Thorngate Ltd. in Cape Girardeau. She was a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson, and was involved with the former quilters club. She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, fishing and going to auctions.

Loving survivors include a daughter, Rhonda Sievers of Cape Girardeau; a son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Pam Sievers of Jackson; two grandchildren, Vincent Sievers and Michelle Prost; a great-grandson, Joseph Prost; and two brothers, Marshall Walker of Millersville and Walter Surface of Glenallen, Mo.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Melvin and Dean Walker, Glen and Marvin Surface; and three sisters, Mamie Yaeger, Grace Surface-Riehn and Gertie Surface-Ruesler.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Emanuel United Church of Christ.
