Mildred "Rosalee" Sides, 87, of Jackson passed away Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born June 15, 1925, in Millersville, to George "Ed" and Ada A. Welker Winkler. She and Roy "Gene" Sides were married April 8, 1944, in Piggott, Ark. They were married 47 years when Gene passed away March 29, 1992...

Mildred "Rosalee" Sides, 87, of Jackson passed away Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born June 15, 1925, in Millersville, to George "Ed" and Ada A. Welker Winkler. She and Roy "Gene" Sides were married April 8, 1944, in Piggott, Ark. They were married 47 years when Gene passed away March 29, 1992.

Rosalee worked at the former Lee Rowan in Jackson.

She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary No. 158 in Jackson, VFW Auxiliary No. 3838 in Cape Girardeau, DAV Auxiliary and enjoyed volunteering at the Jackson Senior Center.

She was of the Baptist faith. In her spare time, she enjoyed crossword puzzles and Cardinals baseball.

Loving survivors include three sons, a daughter and their spouses, Harold and Nelda Sides of Millersville, David and Connie Sides, Barbara Scheper, Sam and Barbara Sides, all of Jackson; six grandchildren, Ty (Rachel) Sides, Sara (Travis) Turner, Laura (Josh) McGee, Ryan Sides, Raegan Scheper, Erin (Drue) Kampmann; and six great-grandchildren, Alexis, Addison, Ethan, Jackson, Nolan and Avery.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Garry Dale Sides; and a brother, Edward Winkler.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Don Estes officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Brookside Memorial, American Legion Auxiliary No. 158 or the American Kidney Foundation.
