Mildred Jenkins James, 93, of Chesapeake, Va., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007.
She was a native of DeWitt County, Ill., and a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. She was a retired Portsmouth, Va., public school teacher.
Mildred was preceded by her husband, Ray Thomas James.
She is survived by two daughters, Marjorie Engleman and husband Bill of Cape Girardeau, Phyllis Parron and husband Richard of Chesapeake; five grandchildren, Pam and James Roche, Natalie and David Mansell, Melinda and Carl Black, David and Adele Parron and Richard Parron Jr.; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Beulah McNulty, Marjorie Shaw and June Kaylor.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, with the Revs. Joseph Winfree and Larry Adams officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at Loving Funeral Home in Portsmouth.
