Mildred Mae Eakins Cox, 83, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born March 2, 1925, near Advance, Mo., daughter of George Lee and Bertha May Miller Eakins. She and Comelous G. "C.G." Cox were married Nov. 19, 1943. He died Dec. 12, 2007.

Survivors include three daughters, Janet (Wayne) Womack of St. Charles, Mo., Barbara L. Cox of Cape Girardeau, Kay (Matthew) Palmer of Augusta, Maine; a son, Gerald (Cheryl) Cox of Cape Girardeau; a grandson, Morris Womack Jr. of St. Charles; a great-grandson, Zachary Womack of St. Charles; three sisters, Mary Cox of Detroit; Lyndia (Bert) Croy of Jackson, Carol (Ray) Crawford of St. Louis; a brother, Benjamin (Billie) Eakins of O'Fallon, Mo.; and a large host of friends and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by an infant brother, James Lloyd Eakins; a second infant brother; and a sister, Virgie Nada Lee Eakins Smith.

Cox has been a Jehovah's Witness since 1939 and was a member of Cape Girardeau South Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. She and C.G. were faithful and loyal servants of their God, Jehovah. As long as their health permitted, both were well known for their participation in the door-to-door ministry.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1150 S. Silver Springs Road, Cape Girardeau. Thomas J. Kelsey, an elder from the Cape Girardeau South Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, will officiate. Private burial will be in Green Cox Cemetery near Advance.

Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
