Mildred Chandler

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Mildred L. Chandler, age 90, of Marble Hill died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Jan. 28, 1912, in Salem, Ill., daughter of Herbert and Florence Fry Huser. She and John Dale Chandler were married June 5, 1942, and he preceded her in death Aug. 13, 1962.

Mrs. Chandler was a pharmacist and school teacher, co-owner of the Chandler Drug Store in Marble Hill, a member of the Lutesville Presbyterian Church, the Victory Chapter, Order of Eastern Star and the Kappa Lamda Sigma of Southern Illinois University.

Survivors include one son, Charles David "Buddy" Chandler of Marble Hill; one daughter-in-law, Patsy Chandler of Glenallen, Mo.; two grandchildren, Amy Chandler and Donna Pry, both of St. Louis; two nephews, Steve Chandler of Marble Hill and Chuck Huser of Chicago; and a niece, Carol Huser of Chicago.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, John Dale Chandler Jr., and one brother, Charles Huser.

Visitation was Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m., and today from 8 a.m. until service time at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. today at the funeral home chapel with Dr. John Englehart officiating. Burial will follow in the Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested for the Bollinger County Cemetery Chapel of Memories fund or the Bollinger County Library Building fund.
