CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Funeral for Milburn "Mib" Powell of Charleston will be held at 2 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, Mo. The Rev. Jon Archie will officiate. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, with military rites by Missouri Military Funeral Honors Program.
Powell, 84, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at Charleston Manor Nursing Center.
He was born Sept. 17, 1916, in Supply, Ark., son of Perry James and Mary Hillard Powell. He married Marie Stockdale.
Powell attended Elm Street Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Shirley Grogan of Murray, Ky.; two brothers, Otis Powell of Steele, Mo., Ameil Powell of Miner, Mo.; two sisters, Imo Cooper of East Prairie, Flo Welch of House Springs, Mo.; a half brother, Jimmy Poore of Sikeston, Mo.; three half sisters, Letrice Ornoff of Jackson, Mo., Ruby Poore of East Prairie, Gayle Nelson of Riverview, Mo.; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter and a great-grandson.
