MIERL CORD

JACKSON -- Mierl M. Cord, 86, of Jackson, died Saturday, May 4, 1996, at Jackson Manor.

She was born April 13, 1908, at Belgrade, daughter of George E. and Alice Hayes Brooks. She and J. Owen Cord were married in 1934. He died in April 1969.

Cord had been a nurse at Christian Hospital in St. Louis. She moved to Jackson in 1994 from St. Louis, and was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church and its Wesleyan Circle.

Survivors include four sons, David Cord of Corona Del Mar, Calif., Dr. William Cord of Rohnert Park, Calif., retired Lt. Col. Robert Cord of Fruitland, J. Bud Cord of Jackson; a sister, Edith Casey of Huntington Park, Mich.; six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Memorial Park Chapel in St. Louis from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Paul Schlabach officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Louis.
