Michael T. Vranesh, 80, of Charlotte, N.C., died Thursday, Feb. 20, 1997, at his home as a result of complications from throat surgery.
He was born Dec. 7, 1916, at Chisholm, Minn., the son of Serbian immigrants Theodore George and Anne Naca Lonchar Vranesh.
He and Gertrude Farrell were married on Jan. 24, 1948, at St. Louis. She died on Nov. 21, 1993.
He moved to Cape Girardeau in 1973 after retirement from the Federal Military Records Center in St. Louis. He worked in security at Southeast Missouri State University.
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau and the American Legion Post 154 in St. Louis.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Vranesh of Charlotte and Richard Vranesh of Falls Church, Va.; a brother, Richard Vranesh of Chisholm; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel. Parish prayers will be recited at the funeral chapel at 5 p.m.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Milton Ryan will officiate, with burial in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
