Michael "Mick" Short, son of the late Frank and Verna Mae Rogers Short, was born Sept. 24, 1958, in Bonne Terre, Missouri, and departed his life Friday, April 21, 2023, at his home in Scott City at the age of 64 years.

He was a loving brother who was very family oriented. He enjoyed his work as an owner and operator of Mickey's Trucking, and in his spare time enjoyed riding his motorcycle and tinkering with his old cars.

He is survived by three brothers, Raymond (Kathy) Short of De Soto, Missouri, Mark (Carol) Short of Jackson and Robert (Cammy) Short of Scott City; two sisters, Marie Short and Sue Mouser, both of Scott City; four nephews, Scott Sappington, Zach Short, Drew Short and Chris Short; four nieces, Lisa Miget, Renee Sappington, Sydney Short and Mary Short; and five great-nieces and -nephews.

Visitation will be held from 8:30 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, April 25, at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.

Funeral Mass will then be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 25, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Randy Tochtrop officiating. Entombment will be at a later date at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Scott City.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38015.
