Michael B. Seib, 63, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at his home.
He was born Aug. 12, 1949, to Norman Bernard and Shirley Ann Lunsford Seib. He and Twyla Lydens were married Sept. 28, 1975, in Cape Girardeau. They divorced in 1998.
Seib received a bachelor of science degree in social studies education in 1971, and a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice in 1983, both from Southeast Missouri State University.
He was an officer with the Cape Girardeau Police Department from 1971 to 1983. When he left the department he was chief of detectives. Seib was a certified state criminal justice instructor and taught at the Cape Girardeau Police Academy.
Seib was employed by Bumpa Tel from 1983 to 1986, serving as vice president of operations and international purchasing. Seib was general operations manager at West Park Lanes from 1986 to 1996. He was an assistant manager at ShopKo from 1997 to 1999 and as loss prevention and safety manager at Lowe's from 2000 to 2006.
Seib served on the St. Vincent de Paul School Board and was president and past president. He served on the board of directors and also as president of Missouri State Youth Bowling Association. He was elected to Cape Girardeau District Bowling Hall of Fame in 2009.
Survivors include his life partner, Carl Train; his partner's three children, Sydney and Charlie Herbst, Spencer and Kim Train and Stacia and Charles Ledbetter; his partner's eight grandchildren, Erin, Jared, Allyson, Taylor, Travis and Claire Herbst and Shannon and Charlie Ledbetter; a great-grandchild, Ethan James; his three children, Stephanie Yamnitz, Michael B. "Mitch" Seib II and Jerod Drew Seib, addresses unknown; two sisters, Mary Catherine "Cathy" Friga of Chaffee, Mo., and Mary Geraldine "Gerry" Driskell of Cape Girardeau; and two brothers, Daniel Seib of Cape Girardeau and Lawrence Joseph "Joe" Seib of Fruitland.
His parents preceded him in death.
There is no visitation.
A celebration of life will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Lagniappe, 11 S. Spanish St. in downtown Cape Girardeau.
